In recent news, the federal government of Pakistan has approved the deployment of Army and Rangers personnel to ensure foolproof security during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The decision was made with approval from the federal cabinet, and the forces will be deployed under Article 245 of the Constitution and the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
The highly anticipated tournament is set to begin on February 19 and will conclude on March 9. Hosts and defending champions Pakistan will open their campaign at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi against New Zealand in the curtain-raiser match.
