In recent news, a 15-year-old Palestinian teenager Hussam Al Attar was dubbed the “Newton of Gaza” after successfully generating electricity from wind using simple tools.

Meet the “Newton of Gaza”

Hussam Al Attar, who attended the Jabal Mukaber School in the northern Gaza Strip before Israel launched a devastating war against the besieged enclave, is now homeless after his family was evicted from their home.

Talking to the press, Hussam stated, “I looked at my twin nephews and saw nothing but fear in their eyes. They felt lonely in the darkness of the tent. So I thought bring them joy and brighten this place”.

The teenager further shared that he was inspired by the idea of using the cold and wind, which often make children tired and sick, to create a source of warmth and comfort. Despite the lack of opportunities, he was able to create small electrical generators that power fans and generate electricity.

Hussam’s mother hopes to see him as a great inventor who will benefit his community and company. This is the Palestinian generation that will not be defeated. It is a generation that is searching for life amid darkness and death.
