The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering former Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi for a leadership role in Pakistan’s women’s cricket department. This comes following the resignation of Tania Mallick, who stepped down from her position in October 2021.
Shehrbano Naqvi, a respected police officer in the Police Services of Pakistan, gained public recognition for her brave intervention in an incident earlier this year in Lahore’s Ichhra Bazaar, where she rescued a woman from an attack. This act showcased her commitment and dedication, earning her nationwide respect.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who was interim Chief Minister of Punjab at the time of Shehrbano’s noted public service, is said to be considering her for the position based on her strong record.
The departure of Tania Mallick and PSL Director Sohaib Sheikh from PCB, announced on Wednesday, has left key vacancies. Both individuals contributed significantly to Pakistan cricket, with Mallick enhancing women’s cricket development and Sheikh playing a major role in launching the PSL.
