PSL 9: Rilee Rossouw Replaces Sarfaraz Ahmed As Quetta Gladiators’ New Captain

In a surprise announcement, Quetta Gladiators have named Rilee Rossouw as their new captain for the upcoming ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Rossouw, the South African left-handed batsman, will take over the captaincy duties from Sarfaraz Ahmed, who led the team in the previous seasons.

Rilee Rossouw has been a vital player for Quetta Gladiators since joining the team in 2018. He scored 371 runs in the 2019 season and followed it up with 276 runs in the 2020 season. The 32-year-old has a wealth of experience in T20 cricket. Rossouw has played in various leagues around the world, including the widely known Indian Premier League (IPL).

The decision to appoint Rossouw as captain came as a surprise to many as there were speculations that either Mohammad Nawaz or Azam Khan would be named as the new skipper. However, the management decided to go with Rossouw, who is known for his tactical acumen and leadership skills.

In a statement, the Quetta Gladiators management praised Rossouw’s dedication and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the team to success. Rossouw, on his part, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and promised to give his best for the team.

The ninth edition of the PSL is set to begin on February 17th. Quetta Gladiators will play their first match against Peshawar Zalmi on February 18th. All eyes will be on Rossouw as he takes on the challenge of leading the team to the PSL title.
