As per the latest stats, at just 21 years old, Saim has featured in 18 innings, scoring only 284 runs with a low average of 15.77 and a strike rate of 130.87. Despite these underwhelming numbers, the management opted to include him in the upcoming T20I World Cup squad.

Salman Butt, a veteran of 135 international matches, expressed his surprise on his YouTube channel. “Saim Ayub is the lucky one. In 20 innings, he couldn’t perform as per the expectations, yet the management has shown faith in him, which is a big thing. I don’t think you’ll ever see a player who was given as many chances in Pakistan’s history”, Butt remarked.

Butt emphasized the pressure now on Saim’s shoulders to justify the management’s trust and deliver strong performances in the World Cup.

While questioning Saim’s selection, Butt acknowledged other team challenges. He pointed out the lack of consistent middle-order batsmen but ultimately conceded that the chosen squad might be the best available under current circumstances.

Butt also commented on the exclusion of Hasan Ali and the inclusion of Haris Rauf, as well as the absence of Usman Khan, who opted to play for another team.
