Shaving Company’s Ad Campaign Targeting Indian Topper Sparks Outrage On Social Media

Prachi Nigam, a shining star who topped her Uttar Pradesh Class 10 exams, was cruelly trolled online for her facial hair. This sparked outrage, highlighting the dark side of the internet. But wait, there’s more. Enter Bombay Shaving Company, attempting to show support for Prachi with an ad that left many feeling more scraped than soothed.

Razor-sharp words hurt more than razors…

The ad, shared by CEO Shantanu Deshpande, offered encouraging words to Prachi. While the initial sentiment seemed decent, things went south faster than a dull razor. The ad concluded with the tagline, “We hope you never get bullied into using our razor.”

Social media users reacted with a collective “Seriously?” The ad reeked of opportunism, using Prachi’s experience to push their product. Many slammed the company for capitalizing on a sensitive issue and questioned their lack of tact. “Disgusting,” “absurd,” and “tone-deaf” were just a few words thrown around.

However, Deshpande defended the ad, claiming it aimed to support Prachi. But his words rang hollow next to the ad’s blatant sales pitch. The ad might have aimed for a clean shave of negativity, but it left behind a nasty case of marketing stubble.
