The Sindh government has unveiled a major initiative aimed at enhancing public safety: the Sindh Smart Surveillance System (S-4). Inaugurated by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, S-4 utilizes advanced technology to bolster security measures across the province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shah emphasized the project’s potential to improve law and order. He highlighted the utilization of modern cameras equipped with facial recognition (FR) and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) capabilities.
These cameras, strategically positioned at 40 toll plazas across Sindh, will be monitored from a central control room established at the CPO Data Centre in Karachi.
The Chief Minister allocated approximately Rs 1.5 billion for the project. It includes the procurement of camera systems and the establishment of the central control center. Authorities project that S-4 will be instrumental in apprehending wanted criminals, with estimates suggesting over 80,000 fugitives could be identified through the system.

The implementation of AI and analytical tools promises real-time monitoring and uninterrupted connectivity across the toll plazas. This comprehensive approach signifies a significant step forward for law enforcement in Sindh and is expected to contribute to a safer environment for all citizens.
