In a stunning turn of events, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 saw co-hosts the United States achieve a monumental upset by defeating the 2009 champions, Pakistan, in a dramatic Super Over on Thursday. Pakistan, after being sent in to bat on a challenging pitch, managed to post 159 for seven, recovering from an early collapse at 26 for three and later 98 for five.

The USA, chasing 160, seemed in control at 104 for one after 13 overs. However, Pakistan mounted a comeback, leaving the USA needing 15 runs off the final over. Haris Rauf, who initially conceded just three runs off the first three balls, gave away 11 off the last three, resulting in a tie as the USA ended at 159 for three.
