In a move to improve user experience, WhatsApp has introduced a new feature allowing the recovery of accidentally deleted messages.

The WhatsApp app, owned by Meta, constantly strives to enhance user experience through regular updates. While WhatsApp has simplified communication through chat and media sharing, users sometimes unintentionally delete messages that they later wish to retrieve.

This new feature offers a solution for such situations. Here’s a quick guide on how to recover your deleted messages:

  • Navigate to the chat or conversation containing the deleted message(s).
  • Long-press on the specific messages you wish to recover.
  • Once selected, tap the “Delete” icon (trash can symbol) located at the top of the app.
  • Choose “Delete for me” from the pop-up menu.
  • A notification will appear at the bottom of the screen confirming the deletion. Crucially, this notification includes an “Undo” option that will only be visible for five seconds.

Important Note: The “Undo” function is not available for messages deleted using the “Delete for everyone” option.

This update empowers users with a brief window to recover messages deleted in haste. However, the limited visibility of the “Undo” notification underscores the importance of acting quickly if you wish to restore your message history.
