During this year’s Hajj, the annual religious pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, an exciting and innovative development unfolded that has the potential to revolutionize medical services in holy areas. The Saudi Post (SPL) and the Ministry of Health joined forces to introduce an ingenious concept involving the use of drones.
Facility for the pilgrims
The unmanned aerial vehicles were employed to swiftly transport vital blood supplies to critical locations, especially in moments of medical emergencies amidst the congregating pilgrims. In the past, the process of delivering blood would consume around 2.5 hours, but with the integration of drones, this time has been dramatically reduced to a mere 2 minutes.
This remarkable transformation not only ensures timely medical assistance but also aligns seamlessly with Saudi Arabia’s visionary plan, Vision 2030.
