Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has called for the release of Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who is currently in detention. During a media briefing, Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, the Central Deputy Information Secretary of PTI, emphasized that Rehman’s demand highlights the need for a collective effort aimed at ensuring fair treatment and resisting the government.
Yousafzai expressed that the current administration is struggling with public support and lacks legitimacy. JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri shared this view, mentioning that recent actions in parliament have violated previous commitments. Ghauri also noted that Rehman, who will be traveling abroad, intends to meet with other opposition parties when he returns.
PTI leader Asad Qaiser met with Rehman to discuss the possibility of launching a united movement against the government. During their meeting, they agreed on the need to revive parliamentary committees and explore collaboration with other opposition groups. However, JUI-F emphasized that PTI must demonstrate “seriousness” for effective cooperation.

Consultations within the PTI, including discussions with Imran Khan, are anticipated to take place once Rehman finishes his foreign tour. The opposition is looking to strengthen its efforts for fair governance upon his return.
