Last night, during the first playoff match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8 between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars, Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of Multan Sultans, hid the logo of a sponsor on his jersey. The act soon became the talk of the town and everybody wanted to know what was actually going on.

Multan Sultans clears the air

As per the details, the logo was of Wolf777 News, a media outlet that has been accused of being a front for a betting and gambling business. On the speculation, Multan Sultans had previously explained the legal nature of their partnership and the logo seems to be getting a lot of unwanted attention.

Clearing their side of the story, Multan Sultans previously in a presser stated, “Wolf777 News is a sports website that is trying to compete on a regional level with other sports news websites. Multan Sultans categorically denies the speculation that Wolf777 News has any connection to betting/gambling nor there are links or tabs on its portal to any betting/gambling website. Our association is with Wolf777News only”.

“As a responsible entity, we are aware of our obligations and will neither be associated with a partner that promotes betting or gambling nor will support such venture”, the statement added.

Muhammad Rizwan’s instant action

Rizwan’s act of hiding the logo is significant as it highlights the issue of betting and gambling in Pakistan, which is considered a social evil and is prohibited by Shariah as well as the law. It also raises questions about the involvement of media outlets in such activities, which can have a detrimental impact on society.

While it is yet to be proven if Wolf777 News is involved in any illegal activities, Rizwan’s actions suggest that there may be some truth to the allegations. By hiding the logo, he is sending a message to the public that he does not endorse such practices.
