Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the second-oldest captain to win an ICC trophy.

Leading his team to a thrilling victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa, Sharma, aged 37 years and 60 days, sits just behind legendary Pakistani captain Imran Khan (39 years, 172 days) who achieved the feat in the 1992 ODI World Cup.

This win also marks Sharma’s place as the oldest captain to lift the T20 World Cup trophy. The victory was bittersweet, however, as both Sharma and veteran batsman Virat Kohli announced their retirement from T20 Internationals after the historic win.
