Draped in a down coverall adorned with Pakistan’s verdant flag, Sajid embarks on a mission to conquer the 8,611-meter (28,251-foot) rocky spur, confronting a frozen tapestry of discarded relics: oxygen canisters, weathered tents, and entangled ropes, remnants of decades of relentless summit pursuits.
With resolute determination, Sajid’s team of five toils for a week, methodically dislodging some 200 kilograms (400 pounds) of refuse from the icy clutches of the pinnacle. Their precarious descent with the amassed debris stands as a rare act of benevolence within one of the planet’s harshest landscapes, K2’s unforgiving embrace.
