The government of Saudi Arabia has introduced stringent health restrictions for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, aiming to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims amid the harsh weather conditions expected during the season.
According to a health advisory sent to Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, only individuals who are deemed healthy and fit will be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage, while those with serious health conditions will be prohibited from traveling.
The advisory, issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, outlines specific health conditions that disqualify individuals from participating in Hajj.
Pilgrims suffering from kidney, heart, lung, or liver conditions, as well as those diagnosed with cancer, dementia, or infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, will not be allowed to travel. Additionally, children under the age of 12 and pregnant women are also barred from making the pilgrimage.

These measures have been implemented in response to the extreme temperatures and challenging environmental conditions in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj season, which pose significant health risks to vulnerable individuals.
In conjunction with these restrictions, pilgrims will be required to receive vaccinations for meningitis, COVID-19, seasonal influenza, and polio to further safeguard their health during the pilgrimage.
