Saudi Arabia has been officially selected to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, marking a historic moment as the country becomes the second Middle Eastern nation to host the prestigious tournament after Qatar in 2022.
The tournament will feature 48 teams competing across five cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and the futuristic city of Neom. Matches will be held in 15 state-of-the-art stadiums, with the newly constructed King Salman Stadium in Riyadh, boasting a capacity of 92,000, designated to host both the opening match and the final.
The decision was announced during a FIFA Congress meeting led by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, conducted virtually from Zurich. This selection aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, aimed at transforming the nation into a global hub for sports and entertainment.
