The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that Karachi’s winter in 2024 will be shorter and milder, with temperatures expected to drop in mid-November. Currently, the city faces unusually high temperatures nearing 40°C, prompting residents to worry about climate change’s impact.
Meteorologists forecast that winter will be delayed across Pakistan, with Karachi and lower Sindh experiencing persistent high temperatures. While dry conditions will dominate much of the region, cities like Lahore, Islamabad, and Gilgit-Baltistan may see occasional rainfall and light snowfall.
In Karachi, temperatures remain between 38°C and 40°C, with meteorologists predicting a cooling trend by early November. By November 6 or 7, daytime highs should ease to between 32°C and 34°C, offering some relief. However, the PMD has cautioned residents of Karachi and nearby rural areas, including Sajawal, Thatta, Umerkot, and Mirpurkhas, about another three days of intense heat.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz reported humidity levels at 20% to 30%, helping to prevent a full heatwave, while the return of evening sea breezes should offer some cooling relief.
