The case of Onya Andrew Robinson, an American woman currently stranded in Karachi, Pakistan, has taken a new turn as her alleged son speaks out about her condition.

According to the son, Robinson had traveled to Pakistan on a vacation and not for marriage. He emphasized that she has never been married and is battling bipolar disorder, which has impacted her decision-making. He also criticized the Pakistani media for exposing her private information and making fun of her situation.

Robinson, 33, had traveled to Pakistan after allegedly developing an online relationship with 19-year-old Nidal Ahmed Memon. She believed she was coming to Karachi to marry him, but upon her arrival, Memon, reportedly under family pressure, refused to proceed with the marriage, leaving Robinson stranded.

With an expired tourist visa and nowhere to stay, she went to Memon’s residence in the Garden area, only to find the house locked and abandoned. In desperation, she staged a sit-in outside, taking shelter in the building’s parking area. Her actions attracted public attention, leading to police intervention.

Robinson then made bold demands, insisting, “You got to give me $5000 per week. I’m becoming a citizen of Pakistan.” She also refused to leave without securing financial support. Authorities, including SDPO Clifton Faiza Sodhar, stepped in to ensure her safety.

Despite US Consulate efforts to facilitate her return, Robinson initially resisted, causing delays at Karachi’s airport. Even with offers from the Sindh government and JDC Foundation to cover her return ticket and medical expenses so that she can finally travel back to the United States.
