The Indian government has recently been buzzing with rumors of a potential change in the country’s official name from “India” to “Bharat.”

Yes to “Bharat”. No to India?

According to various Indian media reports, this proposed alteration is expected to be discussed during a special session of Parliament. One intriguing clue that sparked this speculation was the invitation sent by Rashtrapati Bhawan (the President’s House) for a G20 dinner on September 9.

Instead of the customary “President of India,” the invite referred to the head of state as the “President of Bharat.” This subtle shift in nomenclature has set tongues wagging across the nation. Prominent figures, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, have also weighed in on the matter.

Assam CM’s tweet:

In a social media post, he expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “Republic of Bharat – happy and proud that our civilization is marching ahead boldly towards Amrit Kaal.”
